August 28, 2017

Last year, Washington Monthly created a separate ranking related to what adult learners need to succeed. Bellevue University ranked in the Top 10 ... again.

Top 10 university for adult learners Ranking #6 on the list of best 4-year colleges for adult learners, Bellevue University gains high marks from Washington Monthly. Bellevue University received a perfect score in the Ease of Transfer category and high marks in the Flexibility of Programs category, as well. These ratings, combined with Bellevue University's large percent of adult learners (83%) and cost-effective tuition, helped the University gain the ranking. Of special note by Washington Monthly is the average student earnings 10 years after enrolling ($61,046).

Washington Monthly notes that nearly half of current American college enrollment is among adult learners and that inspired them to launch its "first-of-its-kind ranking of four-year and two-year colleges that do the best job of serving adult learners."

They specifically call out Bellevue University: "Bellevue University in Nebraska, for example, falls into the 'unranked' category on the U.S. News rankings but is number six on our list. The school does well on a host of our metrics, including how much their students earn annually ten years after entering college ($61,406) and the share of its students - 82 percent - who are adults."

The difference between the Washington Monthly rankings and other known rankings is, "We rank schools based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: Social mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs) and Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).
